Jessica Cutler's lies about age and college degree confirmed!

Wonkette confirms that Jessica Cutler is actually 26 and that she lied about having a college degree:

When we asked Washingtonienne -- we believe what we read in the WP, what do we know? -- she refused to answer, saying, "I don't know why that's important." A classic non-denial denial!

Unfortunately, there's no credit to The Calico Cat for being the first blog to bring up the age issue, but Destiny-land was properly credited, and deservedly so, for breaking the story about Jessica never graduating from Syracuse University.

Why don't you get over the fact that you aren't credited everywhere for every little tidbit of information related to Jessica Cutler? You sound like a whiny little kid.

Waaa waaaa, no one credited me. Waaa.

if you want to be credited with some kind of exclusive so bad, why not talk to jessica yourself?? obviously wonkette and richard leby have her contact info, why not ask them for it?

The flippant answer to the second comment writer is that calling sources would make me a "journalist" and not a "blogger."

As far as "whining" goes, I'm not doing it to a degree greater than anyone else. It's a fact that The Calico Cat has become the internet's greatest repository of Jessica Cutler links and commentary. I don't claim that it's a great accomplishment. Anyone could have done the same thing. But they didn't. The only way people will know about the accomplishment, as dubious as such an accomplishment might be, is by reminding them. If there's one lesson we learned from this bogus scandal, it's that tooting your own horn can pay off.

ok, let me get this straight, you are a "blogger" and not a "journalist," therefore you cannot make any attempts to contact any of the actual people involved in this scandal who could actually provide some factual information.

then how is it possible for destiny-land to call the SU registrar and for i love jenna bush to call and e-mail the alleged guys in her blog and still be considered "bloggers"?

I hate to say it, but Wonkette is the most informed web source, not this blog. She is in direct contact with Jessica apparently quite frequently. Just because you got to a few tidbits before she posted them, doesn't mean she's not the most informed. Personally, I go there first because she *is* in direct contact with Jessica.

And besides, if you are a 'blogger' and not a 'journalist', then why are you worried who gets the info first? or who 'scoops' who first? A "scoop" is a journalistic term. A blogger isn't in it for publicity, so you shouldn't give a crap unless other sources are blatently plagerizing you.

I admit 100% that the bloggers at I Love Jenna Bush and Destiny-land both did real journalism and I did not. My hats off to them.

I wouldn't necessarily say that Wonkette does real journalism, she just compiles stuff from other news sources and publishes tips that she receives because she's famous enough to get such tips. The only journalism she did in the Jessica Cutler story was talk to Jessica, who contacted her first!

Is Wonkette's blog a better source of information in general than my blog? Of course it is! She's been doing this full time for quite some time, and she gets tips. But I've also visited her blog a few times before, and never really got it. 90% of what she blogs about, I think, "who cares?" Like the picture of Bush ducking from a cicada. Who cares? It's just a mean attempt to make him look bad. I've found Instapundit to be a better "A-list" blogger to check on a daily basis.

I never intended The Calico Cat be an actual source of news. I just wanted to have a place to put my opinions and thoughts into writing, and have people read them.

Of course, that's why I want to be credited. I think that all bloggers are vain in that they want other people to read what they write.

The reason I devoted my blog to covering this scandal is that I saw that people were visiting my blog looking to read about it. Here was a chance to write something that people would want to read. And I had the free time to write a lot. I took the bait. It was fun. Seeing nearly 30,000 visits to my blog in a single day was great. Before this, my biggest day was closer to 300 visitors.

In retrosepct, I will candidly admit that I could have done a much better job with it. I have no previous experience with journalism. I never even worked as a reporter for my high school newspaper. Maybe the other bloggers didn't have any experience either, but they did a better job than me taking the ball and running with it. That's life. I can't be the best at everything. My hats off to them, they did a great job.

The Calico Cat still played a very important role in bringing these issues to people's attention, and leading others to follow up on the leads that I didn't. And I was still the first blogger to write a post about Jessica's age, even though I got the tips from reading comments in other blogs, my own blog, and in internet discussion groups.

I am still proud of my efforts to run with this story, even though I didn't do a perfect job.

ALWAYS HAS TO BE SOMEONE TO RUIN THE FUN. THE OPINIONS, THE BITCHING, THE MOANING, THE BS, AND THE GOSSIP IS WHAT MAKES IT A BLOG. OTHERWISE IT IS A NEWS REPORT (DON'T WASTE MY TIME WITH NEWS REPORTS!)
