Jessica Cutler afternoon roundup, May 26
The National Debate provides further tantalizing information regarding interest in Jessica Cutler from magazines:
TND can also report similar interest from Maxim magazine, FHM magazine and Hustler. Word is that Penthouse, currently in bankruptcy proceedings, has been prohibited from bidding for Cutler by the court-appointed bankruptcy trustee.
The New York Post Page 6 picks up the Playboy tip and also provides info about Ana Marie Cox’s husband moving to New York:
JESSICA Cutler - also known as Washingtonienne, the ex-Senate staffer turned sex-obsessed blogger - and her biggest cheerleader, Wonkette editor Ana Marie Cox, have been offered six figures to pose nude for Playboy, according to www.thenationaldebate.com. If they agree, Playboy would use their photos in time for the fall election and pay them more if they pose together. Meanwhile, Gawker.com says Cox could be moving from D.C. to New York - her hubby Chris Lehmann, a Washington Post book editor, has accepted a job at New York magazine as a features editor.

Ricky Vandal has put up a new Jessica Cutler page at washingtoniennejessicacutler.blogspot.com.

An anonymous Emailer claims that he looked up the name Jessica Cutler on Lexis-Nexis and discovered that there was a Jessica Cutler living in Syracuse, NY at the time she allegedly attended college there. The birth date he found was May, 1978. This is likely the same Jessica Cutler who wrote in her blog that her birthday was May 18. Further evidence that Jessica has been lying about her age and that she’s really 26.

Commentary at Insight on the News from yesterday (I’m a day late on this link).

Commentary from Michelle Malkin:
Cutler, who aspired to be a journalist, spouted: "I'm sure I am not the only one who makes money on the side this way: How can anybody live on $25K/year??" When I was 24 and making less than that, I did it by eating Spaghetti-O's, Ramen noodles and Swanson pot pies for dinner; driving a Toyota Tercel with no air conditioning; and sleeping on a $30 futon. I did it the way most parents teach their daughters to succeed: through hard work, thrift, faith and perseverance.
I previously wrote about this in my post Jessica Cutler’s blog, Washingtonienne, analyzed (which summarizes her whole blog, for those who are interested):
This passage is likely to evoke different reactions in different readers. Some will think, with righteous indignation, “how dare she complain about $25K, why does she expect someone to pay her any more than that?”
Michelle Malkin is the first person to take the bait and rant with righteous indignation about Jessica complaining about her salary. Malkin is talking about those “conventional middle class values” that I wrote about in my previous post Jessica Cutler and the values of Washington.

This is the first I've read Michelle Malkin, and I have to say she's INCREDIBLY annoying. First, she declares that Washingtonienne "deserve[s] a firm outside-the-Beltway lashing" -- presumably from Malkin. But Malkin, according to her bio on the site, lives in "North Bethesda", MD. For those outside the DC area, according to Mapquest "North Bethesda" is a whopping two miles outside the Beltway. And the claim by someone who publishes a weekly column on a self-proclaimed conservative website sponsored by the Heritage Foundation to be somehow "outside-the-Beltway" is highly dubious, if not totally hypocritical. Furthermore, "North Bethesda" is a fictitious locale, invented by snobbish people who apparently think Rockville is too declasse a place for them to admit actually living in-- aspiring to the elan of inside-the-Beltway Bethesda. What a raging hypocrite.

I'm sorry, but I think you're pretty wildly over-generalizing. You certainly don't have to adhere to traditional "middle class values" or be religious, or be particularly virtuous to NOT HAVE ANAL SEX WITH SOMEONE FOR MONEY, or even to think that it isn't okay for someone else to not have anal sex for money. You needn't either subscribe to middle class values or believe that ass-fucking for money is a-okay; there's a lot of gray area in between, where I think most people fall.
There's a lot of hesitation these days to call behaviors either good or bad. So instead we dance around having to make moral distinctions by saying that some people just have different VALUES. Jessica Cutler isn't BAD, you say, she's just different. She has different values. So if I say she's bad, asshats like you tell me that I'm painfully bourgeois and intolerant, with a thoroughly "middle class" sense of right and wrong. Well, that's bullshit. It doesn't make me or Michelle Malkin (who I'm not a big fan of, myself) or anyone else who wants to criticize Cutler's behavior in some way lacking or insensitive.
If you think someone's values are better than yours, you don't say they're "different." "Different" is a euphamism for bad when it comes to values. If the values were good, you'd assume them yourself.
As a disclaimer, I don't like calling what Jessica Cutler did was wrong. She should be free to do whatever she wants. But I also don't feel the need to rally around her in support. Just continually writing about her makes you as much a Cutler-cheerleader as Wonkette. Whatever drives up your traffic, I guess.

look, this woman slept with 6 guys simultaneously (probably more) and lied to all of them.
one of her "boyfriends" found out when he found a half-empty tube of k-y jelly in her room!
she admitted in the nerve interview that she's had an abortion and it's "no big deal".
she never graduated from syracuse and lied about that too.
i have the same fascination with the abomination as many others out there, but cutler is a WHORE. a lying whore. literally. she took cash for anal sex and lied to every guy she was sleeping with.
now she recommends in the washington post that the guys she slept with get tested for HIV. jesus, what a dirty ho.

When Malkin was 24, she was definitely not living on ramen and fresh air, unless her coke habit took all the money she and her spouse were earning in LA. More here:

I'm sorry, but that last comment there--I think the point is that Malkin became successful and somewhat famous without ever having taken it up the ass for money.
I just don't understand what CalicoCat is trying to say here: is it really a unique symptom of middle class morality to not want your daughter to get paid for anal sex?

What? Cutler is 'different', she's in a 'grey area' of good or bad. I think it's pretty disturbing and sad that she got money for sex, period. That's a whore, and it's immoral.
How is that a 'grey area'? And I'm not religious nor socially conservative. I just think whoring yourself out is cheap and dirty.
Doesn't anyone else???

Sure it's a grey area. As a free market/individual rights type, I totally believe in her right to whore herself out, or debase herlself in a dozen other ways. However, I find it distasteful that we continue to celebrate it--I don't have to like what she did to respect her right to do it. Therefore, on the whole deal, I for one cannot come down on a "good" or "bad" side.
