Is there a "Warrior Caste"?

Blackfive the paratrooper of love writes in his blog about The Warrior Caste. He points out that some families serve in the military generation after generation. I'm always interested in these kinds of sociological observations.

Those of us in the Warrior Caste feel more akin to those with the same connections. You can see this for yourself when two of us, who’ve never met before, are instantly brothers or sisters after two minutes of conversation (or blogging). It’s not understood. It’s not implied. It is felt…it is felt down in the deepest reaches of your gut, your soul.

And the above observation explains why you have to be ex-military to get to the top in federal government contracting, which is dominated by ex-military folks. Yes, the federal bureacracy is dominated by ex-military people, in case you didn't know that.

In the DC area, the non-military people live in the District, and the ex-military live in northern Virginia. (I'm not sure who lives in Maryland, I hardly ever head up that way.)
